Oh, Hello Again Blog...did you miss me?

I recently had this thought, "Oh, I have a blog. When was the last time I looked at it? It's probably feeling neglected...maybe I should post something..."

I bet you thought I was never coming back.
I bet you thought I had forever abandoned you.

In order to not make this the longest post EVER (because who would want to read that) I will give you a super quick recap on our lives since last June (*gasp* it really has been a long time):

We moved...not far away...but we LOVE this apartment and it has 2 bedrooms.
We work. I go to school.
Our brothers came home from missions and Guy's brother has been living in our 2nd bedroom since August.
We learned from the runaway incident (see last post) and Dexter has been sporting a handsome green collar/id tag ever since.
I'm graduating in APRIL...yep, that's in three months.
My Dad moved to Alaska for a job and the rest of my family is making plans to follow him soon. I'm still dealing with how FAR AWAY Alaska is... :(

And the most beautiful/exciting/mind-blowing/humbling/terrifying bit of news:

There is a beautiful baby girl growing in my belly.
After praying/wanting and grieving the loss from two miscarriages its hard to believe sometimes that this miracle is happening to us.
She's healthy. I'm healthy. We couldn't ask for more.
She is making her grand entrance this May (four weeks after I graduate).
I'm totally in love.

Our Runaway

This morning when Guy and I woke up...there seemed to be something different in the house. The lump at the foot of the bed wasn't there, and the friendly "Good morning!" meows we get everyday could not be heard. Dexter wasn't there!
We looked through the ENTIRE apartment and in all his usual spots- NO Dexter. This was when we started to panic.
We walked around the yard, front and back- NO Dexter. Guy had to leave for work so I was left to continue the search all by myself while trying to not have a full on panic attack.
Dexter is our baby. We love him. He is an irreplaceable member of the Sundwall family. Needless to say I was really scared and had all of the worst-case scenarios running through my mind.
I set some food outside our door for him and took off on foot. I walked around our entire block shaking his treat can and calling to him. NO Dexter.
I made some Missing Cat listings and put them up online. Frantically called some sleepy friends to enlist them in the search (this was still all before 9 am). And I set out walking again. This time I only made it two houses away when I see the most adorable orange face peeking out at me from a stairwell! DEXTER! He recognized me and just walked all casually over to me like it was no big deal. I scooped that baby up and took him right home.
I am just so grateful that I was able to find him, and find him safe, and relatively quickly. We don't know how he got out, but we think it was sometime in our coming/going last night.
Needless to say I am going to be keeping a very close eye on this little runaway.

Its REALLY hard to admit that you need help.
I'm not always strong and I can't do everything myself.
And its OK.

I've been having a rough time lately and I am overwhelmed by how many people in my life have popped out of the wood work and blown me away with their selfless love/understanding/support.
In my personal trial right now I want to suffer silently and handle it on my own, but I can't. And these people in my life make it so I can get out of bed and carry through my day (I wish I was exaggerating).

I know this sounds pretty melodramatic, but whatev. I'm just feeling loved and wanted to share.

Just Because: Hair Cuts, Arm Injuries and Miley Cyrus

I'm blogging today without a topic in mind- but I haven't blogged in a while...and this is a great tool for me to avoid the school related things I should probably (*definitely) be spending my time on instead.

First order of business: I have bangs! They aren't full straight across bangs like I had in 5th grade but rather side swept bangs that hit right around my eyebrow. You, dear reader, probably don't really care about my hair cut, but it is monumental to me...and this is my blog. I got it cut this weekend and I love it! I don't have any pictures to share (yet) so will just have to take my word on how cute my new hair is.
Second Item: My Hubby looks like a completely different person. I think maybe aliens abducted my Guy and replaced him with a clean shaven, longer haired, alien version of himself. The Husband also got a haircut this past week- I guess it was just a week of new hair in our house (Maybe we should give Dexter a haircut....) His hair is a lot longer than he usually has it and I love it. Here's why: Its long-ish but still cut and well groomed and it is fantastic to run my fingers through and it looks really good on him. He also shaved this week- like totally clean shaved face- goodbye goatee! Oh! and he got new glasses! (YAY Insurance!)

Tangent: I can't decide if I have a preference on Guy's facial hair, as long as its not a mustache (because my father has a mustache and I REALLY can't kiss a man with a mustache because of it), I really like whatever he does with it. I find hair on a man's face extremely attractive.

In other news not related to my vain ramblings on our appearances:

I'm in school- Spring semester is in full swing down here at the Y. I'm beginning to think I was insane for deciding to take classes straight through the Summer. I really want a vacation.

My Husband has injured himself. Guy has been playing on a company softball team and Inter-mural Ultimate Frisbee Team. On Wednesday he 'threw out his arm' which basically equals a LOT of pain for him. He's supposed to be taking it easy on his arm- he's been icing it and wearing braces on his elbow and wrist- but of course he hasn't stopped playing!

I've also stumbled across this video while 'studying' (aka wasting time online) and I kinda, sorta, really secretly love it: (Don't judge me!)

The Other Woman

Sooo, Guy has been saving up his pennies for a while now and finally bought himself this:

Its a Playstation 3, slim- the 120 gig one if you are tech savvy and know what that means. I have affectionately named this piece of sexy black machinery 'The Other Woman', because she now occupies a significant portion of my husband's time.

We only have two games right now: Modern Warfare and Little Big Planet.

This is Guy's game:

In this game you shoot and kill people.
He tried to teach me how to play it- and I lasted for 17 seconds....no joke.
Its really hard, or maybe I'm just not a natural killer.

This is my game:

Its super fun! (and no killing required)
You play as a Sack Boy character (that cute little thing on the cover).
You beat different levels in a Mario style adventure, and you can even build your own!
Did I mention that its super fun?

The feature that I'm most excited about in this gaming system is that its also a Blu-Ray/DVD player! The Other Woman has booted our old DVD player off of the shelf, and rendered it obsolete. And now we can try those fancy Blu-Ray movies too!

My Hubby Spoils Me

If you have read any other posts you might know that I am in love with Guy...its true I really am. He's awesome, all the time, but every once in a while he does stuff that is EXTRA awesome and sweet and I don't always deserve.

For example:

Last week I came home from school and he surprised me with flowers. He got tulips for the kitchen and then put a BIG vase of daisies (my fave!) in the bedroom. I would post pictures, but I haven't taken any...so enjoy these pictures from the internet!

And then last night I got another surprise. Guy got home from work and told me he had a surprise for me I just had to follow his directions. So we got in the car and got McDonalds for dinner (not the most romantic restaurant out there, but it was fun because I didn't have to cook) adn then he put the McDonalds bag over my head and drove around in circles a few times so I would have no idea where we were going. Again, no pictures, but I guess I looked pretty funny being driven around with a McDonald's bag on my head!

Turns out he was taking me out to a movie! Not just ANY movie, but this movie:

I had mentioned to him a few months ago when I first saw the preview that I really wanted to see it but then I completely forgot about it. I didn't even realize it was in theaters! I really enjoyed the movie alot (the main couple fall in love and then write letters to each other for years because he is in the military- now I don't have experience with military, but we do have experience writing letters, so that made it even more fun for Guy and I)

Hero at the Grocery Store

I had been grocery shopping for almost an hour by the time I got to the checkout lines. My two youngest sons were with me, the four-year-old refusing to hold onto the cart, the two-year-old trying to climb out of the basket. Both got progressively louder as I tried to keep them under control, so I was looking for the fastest lane possible. I had two choices. In the first line were three customers but with very few purchases. In the second line was only one man, a young father with his own crying baby, but his cart was overflowing with groceries.

I quickly looked over the three-person line again. The woman in the front was very elderly, white haired and rail thin, and her hands were shaking as she tried unsuccessfully to unlatch her big purse. In the other line, the young father was throwing his food onto the conveyor belt with superhuman speed. I got in line behind him.

It was the right choice. I was able to start unloading my groceries before the elderly woman was even finished paying. My four-year-old was pulling candy from the shelf, and my little one was trying to help by lobbing cans of soup at me. I felt I couldn’t get out of the store fast enough.

And then, over the sound of the store’s cheery holiday music, I heard the checker in the other line talking loudly, too loudly. I glanced over as my hands kept working.

“No, I’m sorry,” the checker was almost shouting at the old woman, who didn’t seem to understand. “That card won’t work. You are past your limit. Do you have another way to pay?” The tiny old woman blinked at the checker with a confused expression. Not only were her hands shaking now, but her shoulders too. The teenage bagger rolled her eyes and sighed.

As I caught a soup can just before it hit my face, I thought to myself: “Boy, did I choose the right line! Those three are going to be there forever.” My mood was positively smug as my checker began scanning my food.

But the smiling woman directly in line behind the elderly lady had a different reaction. Quietly, with no fanfare, she moved to the older woman’s side and ran her own credit card through the reader.

“Merry Christmas,” she said softly, still smiling.

And then everyone was quiet. Even my rowdy children paused, feeling the change in the atmosphere.

It took a minute for the older woman to understand what had happened. The checker hesitated with the receipt in her hand, not sure whom to give it to. The smiling woman took it and tucked it into the elderly woman’s bag.

“I can’t accept …” the older woman began to protest, with tears forming in her eyes.

The smiling woman interrupted her. “I can afford to do it. What I can’t afford is not to do it.”

“Let me help you out,” the suddenly respectful bagger insisted, taking the basket and also taking the old woman’s arm, the way she might have helped her own grandmother.

I watched the checker in my line pause to dab at the corner of her eyes with a tissue.

Paying for my groceries and gathering my children, I made it out of the store before the smiling woman. I had made the right choice of lanes, it seemed. But as I walked out into the bright December sunshine, I was not thinking about my luck but about what I could not afford.

I could not afford my current, self-absorbed frame of mind.

I could not afford to have my children learn lessons of compassion only from strangers.

I could not afford to be so distant from the spirit of Christ at any time of the year—especially during this great season of giving.

I could not afford to let another stranger, another brother or sister, cross my path in need of help without doing something about it.

And that is why I hope never to forget the Christmas hero in the grocery store. The next time I have a chance to be that kind of a hero, I can’t afford to miss it.

Changes!

Sorry for the lack of posting, but we have been SUPER busy for the last couple of weeks- all for good things too!
We have moved! We love our new place and it is starting to feel like home. The boxes are ALL unpacked and its been fun setting things up. We painted our bedroom (pictures will be coming...when I get around to putting them on the computer). It used to be really dark with 70's wood paneling and ORANGE floral wall paper, but now the wall paper is gone and we painted 3 of the walls white and the wall above our bed is a grape green color. It still needs a few finishing touches, like curtains....but it is MILES better than it looked before. AND to tell you about how awesome our landlords are- they were totally cool with us painting the bedroom, and even bought the primer and paint for us.
Funny story about moving in: our big shelf entertainment center thing we put our tv and all our books and stuff on couldn't fit down the stairs to get it into the apartment (we are in a basement). SO my handy husband decides that instead of just getting something else that we will be able to move in, he just saws our shelf in half then puts it back together with holes and wooden dowels once we get it inside- he's AMAZING!

I started school this past week, so I have been a little busy with that :) I'm loving school SO much. I finally have figured out what I want to get my degree in and it is awesome. I am loving the classes I am taking. I am also in a play right now for BYU, their Young Company Shakespeare traveling show. We are doing The Tempest and every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the semester we tour around and perform in different schools. it has been alot of fun getting the show ready and our first tour day is on Tuesday!

Guy has been working, and we are really looking forward to the company he works for to move their office down to Orem because it will really cut down his commute. He is also playing Ultimate Frisbee every Wednesday and Saturday and he really loves it. He even signed up for the Orem city league and that starts this Saturday and runs for two months and then they have a tournament at the end.

Dexter is over a year old now and has just been loving life. He takes alot of naps, chases all the bugs in the house, loves laser pointers and playing fetch. He is a pretty awesome pet and I can't imagine our family without him.

Other changes: We are now the proud owners of a 150cc orange and silver scooter! Its really fun and great for going around town. I love our Cadillac, but the scooter gets alot better gas mileage and costs maybe $3 to fill up the tank.

I'll probably post again soon and put up some pictures because posts without pictures are kinda boring, but until then...thanks for reading the blog. We are still in love and loving living in Provo!

Idaho Weekend Festivities

So we are going home to good ole IDAHO this weekend and I'm pretty excited.
(we also went last weekend with the intent of going rafting, but that got canceled due to weather. boo. so we are trying again this weekend)
So besides just going rafting which is going to be awesome we are also going to a wedding for Guy's second mother and we are SO happy for her!

and last but not least on the list of awesome things happening this weekend: (drum roll please...)

OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY IS ON SUNDAY!!

So its starting to look like its going to be a pretty good weekend :D

Dexter Playing Fetch

Our cat plays fetch. He will play with hair bands and twisty ties. We were having some fun with him the other night stacking up all the pillows on our bed and then shooting the hair band into them so Dexter would have to jump over them. We now have video proof that our cat does in fact play fetch.

I just want to post about one more story because my hubby is really cute and I want to brag:
So on last Thursday I was kinda sick and not feeling well and was in bed all day, until Guy calls me on his way home from work and we are just talking about our days and then he says he is going to hang up and call me right back, and this is how that conversation went:
G: Hi, is Alison there?
A (playing along): This is her.
G: Hi, this is Guy Sundwall and I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me tonight?
A: (giggling) Sure. What time to you want to pick me up?
G: How about 5:30?
A: Okay, see you then!
Then I did a mad dash to look cute for our date and Guy shows up, a few minutes late, with a bouquet of flowers to pick me up. Then we went out for dinner and a movie at the dollar theater. It was a REALLY fun date and I REALLY REALLY love my cute husband!

These are my pretty flowers! Dexter has knocked them over spilling all the water twice, and won't stop trying to eat them.

Independence Day!

Our 4th of July was pretty fun too. Guy went and played Ultimate Frisbee in the morning while I cooked up some delicious food. Then we pretty much spent the rest of the day over at our friends' apartment. We had a barbecue and ate WAY too much food, and played games, and talked and watched the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire. We really are blessed to have the great friends that we do.

Gratitude

I was just thinking today about how much in my life I have to be grateful for so I thought I would share my gratitude with YOU!
Some of the many blessings I have that are on my mind today are:

GUY! (I know everyone thinks there husband is the best, but mine really is the best) He is such an amazing man and my best friend. He always knows what I need and supports me so much. He never judges me and just LOVES me unconditionally. It is so nice to have that kind of love in my life.
My marriage- this is a subcategory of the first one, but I am so grateful to have a strong and healthy marriage. We make an awesome team and can get through anything together! Not many of you know but we just survived both of us being unemployed for over a month. We relied on our faith and our savings account and we came out of the trial stronger and smarter. Now Guy has a great job and I might too!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ- I am so grateful that I was born into a family that raised me Christian. My faith gives me such strength ad hope! And I am eternally grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ.
My family!!- My family might not follow the traditional structure but it is because of them I am the woman I am today. I also happen to have awesome in-laws, so I pretty much lucked out in the family department.
Chocolate- enough said
Air Conditioning and Otter Pops- I don't know how I would survive the summer without them!
Our great friends- we have some awesome friends who are practically family and they bring so much fun into our lives!
Our health- something I don't think we should take for granted
A roof over my head and food to eat.
BYU- I get to study what I love and get a spiritual education too. It is such an amazing opportunity
Dexter- the best cat in the world! He brings so much joy into our home!
I am also grateful for: flip-flops, popcorn, ice cream, movies, hot water, THEATRE and any kind of art, Scentsy candle thingys, and washing machines

I was in a bit of a down mood earlier but as I started thinking of all of these things I realized I don't really have a reason to be down. It really helped me out alot and I definitely recommend it if you aren't feeling that great.

Monsters!

For my birthday my family got me a brand new sewing machine (THANKS GUYS!) which was something I have been wanting for a while. Usually sewing machines HATE me and decide to break/get jammed whenever I am using them so I was hoping to overcome that and make some fun stuff with my new machine!
Our first sewing project was Guy's idea, we made really cute plush monsters. We just used old fleece blankets we never use, worn out jeans and old t-shirts for the material and drew a picture of what we wanted them to look like and started cutting! It was so much fun and I think they turned out so cute (Guy's is the purple spotted and mine is the one with the bow). We had a blast making them and now we might be addicted...

I thought the spikes were a really nice touch!

Mine kinda turned out like a girly potato.

My Sister Rocks!

I just have to take a minute to brag about my amazing big sis! I look up to her so much, she is the best sister a girl could ask for and she is one of my best friends. She has been through so much in her life and has turned out to be such a strong and beautiful woman because of it.

Today I am especially proud of her because she is achieving one of her dreams! Today my Sis is an RN! If you ever have to go to a hospital I hope you get her as your nurse, because she is the best!

Sunny Hawaii

Due to a series of events, we ended up vacationing in Hawaii instead of California. I kinda think how our trip turned out was even better than we could have planned. We were on Oahu for 5 days and 4 nights! Guy's grandparents are serving a mission at the P.C.C. so we stayed with them in Laie.

I don't really want to write out a whole play-by-play of the trip but some of my favorite highlights were:

Walking on the beach
Snorkeling in Shark's Cove
The Waikiki Spam Jam
Amazing Sunsets
the TOTAL relaxation

Guy says that HIS favorite part was, "Spending 5 days with my wife, Hawaii was just a bonus." (isn't he too cute?)

When we woke up this morning, in mid-April, it looked like this outside! We leave in less than a week for our trip to San Diego and I couldn't be more excited.

Spring Break...kinda...

So BYU is a great school but I would have to say that the lamest thing about it is that we don't get a Spring break! Guy's little sister Lezlie was on spring break last week so of course she came to stay with her SUPER cool siblings (aka US). It was so much fun having her around for the week!
My parents and siblings were going to Denver for their Spring Break that same week, so they stopped in Provo! They stayed here on the way down and on the way back, so I got to see them twice! My little brother and sister slept over at our apartment instead of fighting over the cots in the hotel room.
So even though I didn't get a spring break, it kinda felt like one with all the excitement with our fam in town!
This past weekend we drove up to Idaho to drop Lezlie back off at home and it was a great visit. We got to relax a little and spend some time with family. I hung out with my side of the family while Guy went paint balling with the boys. I FINALLY got to see my sister and her fiance! I hadn't seen them since before the engagement back when it was just Elise and her boyfriend instead of "fiance"! I don't think I could be any more excited for them, they are so great for each other!

The visit was super, the drive home-not so much. The roads got a little scary for awhile. We saw like 15 people slid off the road and at least 5 flipped over. It was really scary, but luckily Guy is an amazing driver.

TWILIGHT

That is us with the new Twilight DVD after we got it at midnight! My husband is SO sweet! I started reading the Twilight books (I know I am WAY behind on the whole trend) and I got hooked, and then I was not so subtly hinting how fun it would be to go get the movie at midnight. My cute husband surprised me by reserving a copy for me and we went and waited at the store for like two hours!

One Year Older and Wiser Too...

Guy turned 23 years old on February 6th!! He is SO old! :)
We celebrated by going to dinner and out to a movie, both of Guy's choosing! It was really fun! I made a cake and decorated the house the night before when he was asleep, i'm just sneaky like that. His cake was trimmed with Sour Patch Kids- his favorite candy. Here are some pics from that night after we got home, with Guy blowing out the candles and eating some cake.

It's a tradition in Guy's family for the birthday boy to smash his face in the cake to take the first bite. Mmmmm.

Superbowl Sunday!

This is us being nervous, wondering if AZ would win.

We went up to Idaho over Superbowl weekend because
1) We love our families! and we don't get to see them enough!
2) We had no t.v. to watch the superbowl on and
3) Our families make good food

We cheered for Arizona. I'm sure Guy had a valid reason for cheering for them. I just cheered for them because the love of my life has spent a considerable amount of time in AZ (mission, school...) and so I think the state kind of rocks. I also cheered for them because everyone else in the family was, so I guess I'm just a follower like that.

We really enjoyed our short little trip up to Idaho. We loved getting to see our families and friends! I just wish they all lived closer.

Dexter's New Friend!

First, let me say that it was all Guy's idea to get another cat. Dexter was lonely, so when we were at the Humane Society getting his booster vaccinations we just went to go look at the other kitties they had. We ended up coming home with a beautiful black female cat. We named her Zoe. Now Zoe and Dex are best friends and they get all of their energy out playing with eacother, so by the time Guy and I get home they are tired and just want to cuddle.

Four Amazing Months!

Today Guy and I have been married for four months! It has been so much fun and I am looking forward to spending the rest of my months with him! We have had a lot of fun married 'firsts' together in these four months:

our first cute little home
our first move together
our first baby (Dexter counts as our baby for now...)
the first time i made a really awful dinner but Guy still ate it because he loves me!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I'm getting so excited for Christmas! When its Christmas I'll be done with finals and get a break and drink hot choclate and eat gingerbread and not have to write a single paper! Yay! We've been getting in the spirit and decorating our little home. We got a very fake tree and put it up and decorated and now all of our presents just sit under it and taunt us (I LOVE opening presents). If you notice in the picture that all of the ornaments are at least three feet off the ground- this is because of Dexter. Apparently Dex really likes Christmas ornaments and we would wake up in the morning to find them strewn ALL over the apartment, so we just moved them a little higher where he can't reach them- but he still tries.

These are up on the wall in my kitchen. I got them over Thanksgiving when my Mom took me to this great little home decor place and they turned out even cuter in my kitchen than I thought they were going to be!

R.I.P. Guy's Beard

The beard is gone.
His face is bald.
He came home from work one day and said he was bored with it and wanted to shave.
I miss it a little bit, but the bald face does have its benefits,like I don't get tickled every time he moves in to kiss me. And he is so handsome he looks good no matter what his facial hair looks like!

A Perfect Saturday!

Guy and I got to spend our whole Saturday with eachother and had such a blast! He had to go into work for a little bit in the morning so I went with him. I have been dying to go to Temple Square for FOREVER! Guy works up in Draper which is halfway to Salt Lake so we figured- why not? We took the train up into the city and spent the whole afternoon. It was Guy's first time since he was like 12! We went and saw the Joseph Smith movie, took a tour of the conference center(Guy had never seen it!), got lunch at the Lion house and just walked around. We had some much fun! After we were done, we hopped back on the train down to our car and headed back to Provo. Then we went and had a game night with some friends, and made some new friends. and then Guy took me to a movie! I have been trying to drag him to see Mama Mia! for a VERY long time (since we were engaged!) and it was at the dollar theatre by our house. It was so fun and Guy actually liked it!
It was so nice to just relax and have fun together! I love Guy so much!

Our New Apartment!

We didn't move but it feels like we got a whole new apartment. A few Saturdays back we spent the whole day just doing projects around the house. Our biggest one (and my favorite) is the huge curtain that now separates our living room from our bedroom! We actually have rooms now! We rearranged the furniture and decorations to help with the separation.

For Halloween Guy and I dressed up as ourselves, 50 years into the future. It was so much fun. Guy just wore an old polyester suit he got from my grandpa and I went D.I. shopping. Spaghetti with Eyeballs

We had some friends over for dinner last week and it happened to be on the day before Halloween- we decided to have some fun with it. We made spaghetti with eyeballs (meatballs with an olive in them) with bones on the side (breadsticks). It was so much fun making and eating our creepy dinner!

It's the Great Pumpkin!

Guy and I have been getting in the Halloween spirit! We found the HUGEST pumpkins we could (both of them about 30 pounds!) and on friday night we went jack-o-lantern crazy! We spread newspaper all over our hard wood floors and grabbed all the knifes and spoons from the kitchen.It was so much fun, it took us the entire evening to carve our giant pumpkins.

Guy looks a little scary with that big knife. I don't think I'd like to be that pumpkin...

Two Months!

Guy and I have been married for two months today! It has been the best two months. I LOVE being married to Guy! He is the best husband a girl could ask for, and he's MINE. I love him so much!
So, Happy Two Month Anniversary to us!

Conference Weekend: Missionaries, Cookies and Facials

We had such a fun and BUSY weekend! Starting on Thursday night there was constantly people coming and going from our apartment and tons of stuff to do. Guy's sisters came down for General Conference (which was AWESOME) so we got to see alot of them this weekend which was so fun.
Guy had his first mission reunion on Friday night which was a really cool experience for both of us. Guy got to see some of his old friends and I finally got to meet these people that I've heard so much about. We had a little devotional thing and an ice cream social.The reunion was here in Provo so there was a bunch of people traveling here and we had a few stay with us. I think Guy had a lot of fun hanging out with his old companions. We spent practically our whole Saturday with Nick (aka Elder Sponsel) he and Guy were together for a total of six months (!) on there mission,which means Nick has lived with Guy at least three times longer than I have- and they still like each other!

On Sunday after the morning session one of my bestest friends, Angie, came over and we made delicious Wednesday cookies (her mom's choc chip cookie recipe that involves oatmeal and applesauce-I was addicted to these things in high school). It was so much fun getting to spend time with her and then when we were done we had a delicious treat to munch on during the afternoon session!

This was our living room after conference, we still had the blow-up mattress from our guests staying there and Lezlie, Guy and Dexter were all taking a Sunday nap.

On Sunday night Lezlie and I decided to have some girly time, we did facials, pedicures and our nails. It was a blast. I don't think I get enough girly time- living with a boy and all....

I just realized how long its been since i've posted anything and figured i better put something up.
Hmmmm, what have we been doing?
I've just been going to school (and working my butt off). I'm really lovin' my classes and am learning a ton. I've got my first exams this week: Pschology and New Testament. Guy has been helping with my flashcards so I can survive my Psychology test. Oh, and I got all my hair chopped off!
Guy has been working really hard at his job with Clear Protectors (if you want to see what he does you should check out their website here )He does the designs for all the cool new gadgets that come out. We had a company dinner which was really fun, I finally got to meet all the people he works with and put a face to a name. Guy is also on our ward's Co-ed volleyball team.
Dexter has been growing like crazy. We call him our little ninja because he is all over the apartment climbing and jumping off of stuff. It is SO funny.

DEXTER!

We now know where the saying "curiosity killed the cat" came from. This little guy came home with us on Saturday and has been exploring ever since. He gets into EVERYTHING! We have been trying to kitten proof our home. He loves to play and loves to cuddle. He is so stinking cute. His favorite toy is a crumpled up piece of newspaper! He crawls under and looks like a little turtle.

He is definitely still a baby. He fits in Guy's hands! He hasn't quite learned his name yet, but I'm sure he will! We think the name Dexter (Dex for short) justseems to fit him to a tee. We are trying to litter box train him right now and hopefully the concept is going to sink in quick!
We just love this new little addition to our home!

goodbye summer.

This monday marked the end of summer vacation. *tear* but i guess it isn't too sad because guy and I got to spend a super fun labor day together. It started out way rainy (how lame is that? rain on the last day of summer vacation?) so we just watched chick flicks and had some popcorn and hot chocolate.
Then we ventured out a little bit and went to Deseret Book and FINALLY got Guy his own set of scriptures. The ones from his mission seemed to have mysteriously disappeared. We got him some a really nice set and we even got his name imprinted.

After that when we got home we were kinda starving but didn't know what to make. I was in the mood for french fries and Guy wanted chicken nuggets so we were adventurous! We figured out how to make our own. It was my first time battering and frying something...Neither of us had any idea what we were doing but it was so fun and turned out delicious!Our kitchen got a little bit messy in the process...

It's still a work in progress but we really love it. We are just about completely unpacked and our place is really starting to feel like our home. We have had a lot of fun setting up and playing with all of the fun new things we got from our wedding.

I love Guy so much and don't know what I would do without him. He is the most amazing man. He is so sweet and caring and willing to do anything for our family! I LOVE HIM!When we moved in our garbage disposal/ dish washer was kinda...not working. So Guy starts digging around in there and finds there was a spoon broken in half and jammed in. He starts pulling things apart and comes out ten minutes later with a spoon handle in a pair of pliers! My hero! *sigh*

We aren't in Kansas anymore...

Yesterday Guy and I had our first real experience with the utah mormon culture, and it was a bit of shock.
We looked up online which ward we are supposed to be in, just our luck it started at 8:30! so we headed out to try and find the church building, as we are driving we pass a few churches but none are the right address. We see a steeple in the distance and figure that must be it. As we pull into the parking lot, THERE ARE TWO CHURCHES THAT SHARE ONE PARKING LOT! (and they weren't small either, about the size of a stake center back home). We didn't know which building to go into. We tried one, but it was the singles' building. We tried the other one but the sacrament meeting that was about to start was for the wrong ward. We were very lost and asked for some help, a nice man told us that the 98th ward met in the other chapel at the far end of the builing. Oh silly us we should have checked the other chapel! Ok, so not only were there two buildings there was two chapels! We sat through the whole sacrament meeting trying not to fall asleep (it was 8:30 in the morning). After the meeting was done we went and talked to a member of the bishopric to fill out some new member forms and then we found out that we went to the wrong ward. The boundaries had just changed and the ward we are actually in met at 2:30! But luckily the whole 17th stake meets in the same building so we were able to track down our real bishop. We filled out some forms and then found out that meeting times were switching. We aren't going to have 2:30 church, it switches next week to 8:30.
After we were finally done I felt like I wanted to go home and make some green jello.
